Hi! I am Christel Boon, a surface designer at my company, House of Haricot, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. As a little kid, I grew up near the coast, which inspired my drawing, painting, and crafting. As a teenager, I took private art lessons for a few years, learning to draw and paint with pastels, ink, watercolours, charcoal, and even some oil. I took my portfolio to apply for a graphic design degree. After graduating in Graphic Design successfully, I continued to Art School and earned a degree as an engineer in Interaction Design. I worked as a creative designer and later as a creative director for national and international agencies and companies for quite some time until I started as a Surface Designer. In my work, you will find many references to vintage design, nostalgic childhood memories, food, nature, everyday life and my travels. The best thing for me as a designer is to bring joy to your everyday life with my designs.
